Benue state commissioner for information, Dr. (Mrs.) Diana Ochoga has denied any plot by the state Governor, Gabriel Suswam to drop his Deputy, Chief Steven Lawani ahead of the April elections.
Ochoga, who made the denial yesterday at an interactive session with Journalists in Makurdi, noted that, the insinuations were merely the handiwork of detractors of government, adding that, “it is politically motivated to cause disaffection between the Governor and his Deputy”.
“The Governor has never and will not contemplate such action. Chief Lawani remains his deputy for the forthcoming governorship election. There is no plot to replace him with another person”, Mrs. Ochoga said.
She urged journalists to always verify their facts and avoid been used as tools by some desperate politicians to destabilise the existing peace in the state.
