From Uche Nnorani, Makurdi with agency report
Following the allegation of hoarding the electoral materials meant for the conduct of the Local Government Congress of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwer Loacal Government in Benue state, the house of the Chairman, Dennis Aernyi was set ablaze at the weekend.
The youths carried out the crime because Aernyi and other chieftain of the party in the local government were suspected to have attempted to alter the party register for the area.
State PDP Public Relations officer Mr. Godwin Ayihe noted that in a big party like PDP, it was expected that there would gross violence, assuring that the State Working Committee of the party and the panel set up by the national secretariat to conduct the primaries are working towards amicable resolution of the crisis.
It could be recalled that during the ward congresses, similar violence was witnessed in Guma LGA where angry party supporters attempted to burn down the house of the Permanent Secretary in the Benue state government, Mr. Tivlumum Nyitse.
